2025-26 Service Opportunities & Event Dates
Advisory Board:
PJH is seeking new AB members. The Advisory Board is a group of young professionals seen as ambassadors/connectors for PJH. Each member raises awareness for the agency, opens doors/makes introductions for potential donors/volunteers, and personally volunteers time and talent.
Astros Golf Foundation Houston Open:
PJH is a volunteer partner with the AGF for the Houston Open held in March each year. We scan tickets, greet and engage fans with giveaways, and provide shuttle service for fans from parking lots. Volunteers must be willing to work at least 3 shifts.
Automobile Repair:
Companies or mechanics that are willing to help with an occasional car repair for a PJH family. We compile a list of willing professionalss to get our parents back on the road when an automobile needs service or repair.
Church Liaison:
This person is asked to promote Project Joy and Hope within their local church family. They help promote their church’s awareness of PJH services and local ministry, fundraising events, information tours, and make efforts to engage potential volunteers and supporters.
Cookie Delivery:
Home baked cookies brighten up every child’s day! Individual or group to provide cookie trays for our residents. This always brings a smile to the young and young at heart!
Day Care:
PJH families spend long hours at the hospital, often multiple days each week. Day Care facilities that are willing to accept a sibling or for drop-off child care is a valuable service. We compile a list of owners who can be supportive when the need arises.
Electrician:
This licensed electrician will be asked to do minor repairs when an electrical problem arises within one of the PJH homes on campus. We want to identify several who are willing to be part of a list to utilize from time to time.
Facebook Birthday Fundraising Team
Join our team of Facebook fundraisers who ask their contacts to create Facebook Fundraiser events for their birthday. This successful program raises awareness and dollars to support the Tulip Project Housing on the PJH campus. Our AB team will help you set this up easily and efficiently.
Gala and Golf Committee:
PJH receives no government funding. The annual golf tournament and gala, both held in October, are key to funding agency programs and services. Committee members help with planning, engaging participants, and securing live and silent auction items.
Hairdresser:
This person should be in the Pasadena area and willing to provide services, such as haircuts and color for both adults and children.
Handyman:
Looking for “handy” men who can do small repairs, fix a door, hang a mirror, install a lock…and a multitude of small but important tasks when needs arise.
Landscape Team:
The PJH campus is beautiful and serene. We have a landscape company that keeps the grounds. However, a welcome addition to each home are bedding plants in the spring or fall. This is a great small group project to provide and install color into the flower beds.
Jars For Joy - Pennies Project
Over the course of a two-week period, your group/class/organization/team conducts a Jars for Joy drive for Project Joy and Hope. All funds raised will go directly to serving critically ill children and their families.
Lunch and Learn Host:
Companies and their employees are always looking for ways to serve the community. Set up “Lunch and Learn” event at your workplace or at other locations.
Meal Service:
This is an ideal activity for a lady’s group who is willing to prepare meals (for 4) for delivery to doorstep of PJH resident homes. The days for delivery are Sunday or Wednesday at 5pm.
Nail Tech:
This person is asked to donate complimentary nail service occasionally to moms who need a manicure or pedicure. Nothing perks up a stressed mother like being pampered.
Plumber:
Licensed plumber willing to perform small repairs upon request. We appreciate having several licensed professionals on the list who will assist from time to time.
Power of 24 Partner Ambassador:
Power of 24 is an online monthly giving program that enables individuals to donate $24 to house a family at the Tulip Project. For only $24 each day, a family finds a peaceful home away from home when their child is seriously ill. Ambassadors engage groups and individuals to become Power of 24 Partners.
Restaurant Owners:
Gift cards for fast food, local cafe and restaurant franchises are always welcome treat for families. ($50 and $25 increments are perfect.) Many families have extended appointments during the day at hospitals, so this is a great solution for a meal at the end of a long day. Donate or identify restaurants to participate.
Restaurants may also choose to add a “round-up or donation appeal” activity during the holiday season-the season of true JOY and HOPE!
Technology Gurus:
Graphic designers, tech professionals, videographers, photographers, and social media experts are all valued PJH volunteers. Talented techies help with agency branding and media to raise community awareness.
