When my son was diagnosed with CGD, we learned that his best chance for a long and healthy life was a bone marrow transplant. We were referred to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Our home was in San Antonio, which meant we would need to live in Houston during Ezra’s recovery.
What we hoped would be a 3-month stay turned into an entire year…a year away from home, separated from my daughter and husband while Ezra recovered from two bone marrow transplants and a cell boost.
That year would not have been possible without Project Joy and Hope a place we called our second home. They offered constant support and encouragement through our darkest days. Everyone at PJH understands what families like ours go through; and each person played a vital role in ensuring we are comfortable and able to focus on Ezra’s care.
Throughout the year, their donors and supporters provided so much: meals, gift cards, holiday events, gift bags, and fun summer activities for siblings. Without PJH, we would not have been able to manage financially without losing our home in San Antonio.
Our family will forever be supporters and advocates for Project Joy and Hope and the incredible work they do. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything!
