Tulip Project Housing FAQs
Project Joy and Hope (PJH) is a "home away from home" for families with seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at the Texas Medical Center. The organization provides temporary housing to families who live some distance from tertiary care centers when a child attends hospital for inpatient or outpatient treatment, awaits (or recovers) an organ transplant or needs to access palliative care.
Families benefit not only from a safe, private gated community environment and playground, but also from an on-site pediatric palliative care service center. Here families thrive as PJH offers children’s programs in the Creation Station Children’s Center and sibling activities, such as Sibshop. A parent-to-parent Support Line, a Parent Center, and life planning legal services are also available. Project Joy and Hope’s goal is to keep families intact when facing crisis, providing solutions for challenges experienced by all members of the family. PJH aims to provide a strong support system, thereby helping families remain stable and intact at this challenging time in their lives.
The Tulip Project is a temporary guest housing campus, composed of twelve three-bedroom duplex homes located at 3207 Tulip Street, Pasadena, TX 77504, approximately 25 minutes from the Texas Medical Center (TMC). The campus consists of 12 (three-bedroom two bath) duplex style homes complete with a support center and children’s playground.

PJH believe children thrive when they are surrounded by a loving family; and helping families remain together and strong is a central mission of our organization. We encourage grandparents to assist single parents when possible, and welcome multigenerational families when necessary for the well-being of the patient.
Families are given Guest status for 90 days. Parents may request a 90 day extension, and consideration is given on a case by case basis.
