Welcome to Project Joy & Hope

Project Joy and Hope’s goal is to achieve the best quality of life and care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families, by raising awareness of pediatric palliative care, educating PPC providers, and providing supportive care services and programs. Project Joy and Hope (PJH) aims to provide a strong support system, thereby helping families remain stable and intact at this challenging time in their lives.

PJH is based in the greater Houston-Galveston area and serve as an advisor and model for similar programs throughout Texas and the United States. We value your support, and there are many ways to make a difference and become actively involved. Contact us to learn how you can connect with our organization in a way that will be meaningful to you!

Supporting medically fragile children and their families

Pediatric Palliative Care

Palliative care affects the whole family, with the burden of care falling upon parents and siblings or grandparents. Palliative care (supportive care) is an ‘umbrella’ term for all services that may be required to support children with a life-threatening illness. It is based on an assumption that families have many needs for supportive care (physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical) from the time a child initially is diagnosed with a life-threatening condition.

The PJH Pediatric Palliative Care Center (PPCC) is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide community awareness, education, and supportive care programs for children with special healthcare needs and their families in the greater Houston area and beyond. The TULIP PROJECT is a unique pediatric palliative care residential complex comprised of twelve residential homes. Here families discover a “home away from home” while children are undergoing treatment, requiring palliative care, or are awaiting or recovering from a transplant, while receiving supportive care services at the PPCC on campus.
